Hi everyone! Just thought we'd post our reunion information via blog format. Aren't we computer savvy?
It's been fabulous having mom and dad out here! We have made some exciting reunion plans that you are anxiously awaiting. They are as follows:
Place: Calgary, AB Canada
Date: July 1 - 5, 2009
Here are some tentative details:
Wed. July 1 - arrival and settling in
Thurs. July 2 - AM - Breakfast, registration and family meeting
Afternoon - possble day trips to Banff, Lake Louise, Drumheller, Heritage Park, Calgary Zoo, relaxing - to name a few.
Evening - gather at Shouldice Park for BBQ/ picnic, prepare bag breakfast.
Fri. July 3 - Stampede parade/ Stampede/ Rodeo/ Grandstand Show/ Chuckwagons/ Fireworks etc...
Sat. July 4 - AM - 4th Ward Stampede Breakfast - FREE,
Afternoon - Rafting down Bow River to Edworthy Park for family picnic/ BBQ - celebrate July 1st and July 4th
Evening - Stampede Fireworks
Sun. July 5 - Attend 4th Ward Sacrament meeting for those interested - 12:30 pm, followed by a light lunch - pack up and conclude reunion for 2009.
Lodging information:
Camp sites available in close proximity to my house - Calgary West Campground. Website: http://www.cmy.ab.ca/ They accept bookings by Nov 1st 2008 for the next year. It would be a great idea to book early because the campsite will fill up fast for Stampede week. You can book your own reservations using the phone number provided on the website. This year's Stampede pricing was $32/ night for no hook up - it could increase for next year 2009. We could have some tents available for those who don't have one or can't bring one up. You'll have to bring your own sleeping bags and other camping equipment you may require.
Turner home - 33 Crestbrook Place SW - We are currently figuring out how many families we can fit in - probably only 1 or maybe 2 small families.
We anticipate other private residences may be available. As soon as we know we will let you know.
Hotels: Standard pricing during Stampede week is $200 plus per night
Sheraton 4 Points - 8220 Bowridge Cr. NW
Sandman Hotel - 125 Bowridge Dr NW
Red Carpet Inn - 4635 - 16th Ave NW - website http://www.redcarpetinncalgary.com/ ($120 and up per/day)
There are other hotels if you are interested we can look into more hotels for you. The above-mentioned are located in close proximity to our main activity sites.
Costs for Stampede:
Parade Free.
Parade seating: To reserve bleacher type seating $25 plus GST per person. If no reservation bring own chair and be at parade site by 6 am.
Stampede Entrance for adults $13. Children 6 & under: Free
Seniors - $7.00
Ages 7-17 - $7.00
Rodeo tickets - $30 plus - includes entrance fee to Stampede grounds
Grandstand Show - includes Chuckwagon races, Grandstand and Entrance fee: $35 plus.
Food, Midway, etc as much as you want to spend.
