Lodging information:
Camp sites available in close proximity to my house - Calgary West Campground. Website: http://www.cmy.ab.ca/ They accept bookings by Nov 1st 2008 for the next year. It would be a great idea to book early because the campsite will fill up fast for Stampede week. You can book your own reservations using the phone number provided on the website. This year's Stampede pricing was $32/ night for no hook up - it could increase for next year 2009. We could have some tents available for those who don't have one or can't bring one up. You'll have to bring your own sleeping bags and other camping equipment you may require.
Turner home - 33 Crestbrook Place SW - We are currently figuring out how many families we can fit in - probably only 1 or maybe 2 small families.
We anticipate other private residences may be available. As soon as we know we will let you know.
Hotels: Standard pricing during Stampede week is $200 plus per night
Sheraton 4 Points - 8220 Bowridge Cr. NW
Sandman Hotel - 125 Bowridge Dr NW
Red Carpet Inn - 4635 - 16th Ave NW - website http://www.redcarpetinncalgary.com/ ($120 and up per/day)
There are other hotels if you are interested we can look into more hotels for you. The above-mentioned are located in close proximity to our main activity sites.
Costs for Stampede:
Parade Free.
Parade seating: To reserve bleacher type seating $25 plus GST per person. If no reservation bring own chair and be at parade site by 6 am.
Stampede Entrance for adults $13. Children 6 & under: Free
Seniors - $7.00
Ages 7-17 - $7.00
Rodeo tickets - $30 plus - includes entrance fee to Stampede grounds

That's it in a nutshell. Comments are welcome.

Michelle this sounds like it will be a blast. I am so looking forward to being with everyone. I hope that this will work out for everyone else.
Sounds good, Michelle. I like the idea of camping too. Thanks for all the work that you and Duane have put into this. I'm excited for Bryan to see some of the sites that I have told him about.
Just wondering - about the stampede, what age do the $30 tickets start at? How early would we need to get tickets?
Sorry for all the comments...I found the answer to my last question - under 24 months is free. So, 2 and up for rodeo tickets.
It all sounds like a lot of fun to me. Our only concern is the cost of gasoline in one year and that might change our ability to come up but we sure want to do it. Other than that I think we can do it. We'll start saving now. Thanks Michelle. Glad you're having a good time with you mom and dad visiting Calgary.
the mom in the above comment is me, Jean not Ruth. Didn't know it would come up with Mom instead of my name. It's the same as our family blog.
Sounds fun and exciting! We'd definitely love to join all of year in the upcoming reunion next year and in years to come. Just wondering if there is anyway for the people who plan to camp to book their sites together? It'd be great to be able to visit at night once the kids go to bed. Please keep us posted. Thanks so much for all your work Michelle!
About booking camping sites together - I'm sure it's possible. If everyone could let me know by say October 15th (they start reservations for the next year Nov 1st) I could book all at one time and that way hope to get everyone together. Why don't we do that?
I think the idea of getting a camp site together would be great. Shell do you think they would have group sites?
I will look into the group site scenario.
Love all the comments!!! Looking forward to what everyone else says.
Just a reminder everyone that you may need a passport to travel into Canada. Keep updated on that. I know if you are travelling by air to Canada you need a passport. By land or sea you need a passport or birth certificate. Here are a couple of websites for you Americans to check out. http://www.americanpassport.com/wha.html

What does everyone think about staying in a hotel outside of Calgary? I checked out a couple of them in Cochrane - just west of calgary. Prices range from $109 - Best Western Harvest Country Inn. That includes 2 queen beds, non smoking - no pool. The other I checked out was Super 8 Motel - $149 - 2 queen beds, non smoking, pool, microwave, fridge. These were all based on July 1st check in and July 5 check out. What do you all think? I think it would be fun to all stay together. It would be a bit of a drive to Stampede - probably adding an extra 1/2 hour or so. Still, it would be lots of fun.Let me know soon what you all think since I have been informed that those prices change frequently.
I think the Hotel outside Calgary is a great idea. I would love the one with the pool. I don't think that I am alone with that choice. What does everyone else think?
